Thumbnail Open Mic Guide
There are not a lot of changes. Mostly just the addition of the Olympe bar open mic that I wrote about yesterday, which is located beside the Parc des Buttes Chaumont; and the removal of the Paradis bar open mic, which ended months ago or even longer, but which I had overlooked taking off the list…. (By the way, the end of that open mic was marked by the beginning of the Carré jam that I wrote about recently, which takes place in the Don Camilo Cabaret, located next to Serge Gainsbourg’s old place. So no huge regrets about that one!) Check it out!

Thanks a lot for your Paris open mic guide. I will start a new contract in Paris in September, and will try out the open mics you list.

Excellent! Thanks. As a jazz flutist, you will have some great places to play in addition to those on my list. You must try out the jam at the Duc des Lombards – I cannot remember the day. I’ve attended, but never played there, so I didn’t put it on my list – although I probably should. Do you know the jazz flutist Moe Koffman? A favorite from my teenage years….

I did not know Moe Koffman, but I do now 🙂 Thanks for the link. I see he also co-wrote Swinging Sheperd Blues, a very nice song. My favorite flutists were/are Eric Dolphy, Nestor Torres, Chris Hinze, Altamiro Carrilho, Pixinguinha. I am this week playing in the jam sessions in Amsterdam 🙂
